Principal's Report

Dear Families

We have had a wonderful start to the year with students participating actively in our Orientation/Transition Program last week. Thank you to Harveen Khera and Ebony Dobslaw, our Junior School team for your work. This week we have started classes, beginning learning in each of the subject areas. We have a very kind, thoughtful, friendly group of Year 7 students who have settled very well into learning in their classes. We are also very fortunate to have such a dedicated, highly professional staff who are already working incredibly hard for our students.

Our Official School Opening is on Tuesday 11 February with the Hon. Ben Carroll, Deputy Premier and Minister for Education. This event to celebrate the opening of our new school, starts at 11.15am and will finish at 11.50am in the Gymnasium. Parents/Carers are invited to attend. We do understand that many parents are working or have other commitments, there will be other opportunities for you to attend school events.

We have had some glitches with the electronic programming of the air conditioning, and we have not been able to proceed as quickly as we would have liked with setting up student laptops. The majority of students should be connected from today. We are appreciative of the work ICT technicians from Region have been doing to support us. This process will be different next year as we will be able to set laptops up in January. Thank you for your patience.

We have funding for Tutoring this year, our first focus will be Literacy. This is a valuable opportunity for students who are selected for this program to further develop their skills to help in all subjects. The teacher tutoring will contact parents with the offer for tutoring and time/s will be organised for the tutoring to take place during school hours.

The At Home Reading Program will start next week as books are processed onto the library shelves for borrowing. Some students are already taking home books. Please remind your child to be reading regularly at home as this also helps them develop in every single subject area.

The School Council nominations and election process will take place over the next 4 weeks. Please see the information later in this newsletter to nominate. School Council is a great way for parents/carers to be involved and support the school.

Please see information later in this newsletter about safe access in Rivella Drive. Parents/Carers can help by driving in a loop, rather than doing a U turn and driving back the way you have come in. A reminder that the turn from Rivella Drive into Bells Road is a left turn only. A survey will be sent out to parents/carers next week to gain your feedback about access to the school. This will be passed on to Casey Council.

It is great to see students riding bikes to school which they can park in the school bike enclosure. The bike needs to be secured by a bike lock at all times.

Thank you parents/carers for your support.

Assistant Principal's Report

Our students have made a great start as they transition into secondary school life. It has been wonderful to see them embrace the Transition Program, form new friendships, and settle in classes this week. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and success this year.

Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform, as per the school guidelines. Also, students are expected to bring the required resources set out in the booklist to ensure their opportunity to learn is not impacted in anyway. If you require assistance with organising uniform, books or a laptop, please contact the school and we will support you with acquiring the required items.

College Photos will be taken on Wednesday 12 February. Please assist us with ensuring your child is in full Academic Uniform on this day. Further details have been posted to Compass.

Additionally, if you have not already done so, please check your email for your Compass login details. The Compass platform will be used for key school communications, consent to camps and excursions and add notes regarding attendance, so we encourage you to familiarise yourself with it.

We look forward to working closely with you throughout the year to support your child's journey in secondary school.

Junior School Report

A Great Start to Our New School Year!

What an exciting and positive start we’ve had to our brand new school year in our brand new school! We are incredibly fortunate to have such amazing students who have truly embraced our school values and taken great pride in their uniform. Their enthusiasm and respect for the school community have been evident from the very beginning.

It was wonderful to meet so many of our families during our first assembly last week. Seeing everyone come together to celebrate the start of the year was a heartwarming experience, and we look forward to many more moments like this throughout the year.

Our Transition Program has been a great success. From assigning lockers to helping with organisation, setting up laptops, and assisting students in navigating the school’s facilities and timetables, it’s been fantastic to watch our students take on these new challenges with such confidence. Teachers have shared glowing reviews of the respectful and responsible nature of our students, highlighting their ability to settle in and embrace the changes.

We understand that adapting to a new environment can be nerve-wracking for many students, especially when it comes to making new friends. However, it has been wonderful to see how many new friendships have blossomed both inside and outside the classroom. It’s clear that the sense of community we’re building is one that fosters inclusion and support for all.

Exciting News: Camp in Term 4!

We are also excited to announce that in Week 6 of Term 4, we will be going on a three-day camp to Bayview Adventure Camp, which is less than an hour away from Clyde North. This camp will provide a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with each other, build teamwork skills, and enjoy some outdoor adventures in a beautiful setting.

More details about the camp will be shared soon via a Compass post, so please keep an eye out for that.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic year ahead, filled with growth, learning, and new experiences. Thank you to all our students, staff, and families for your dedication and support as we continue to build a strong and positive school culture.

Here’s to many more great moments ahead!

Our School's Values - Respect

Our number one school value is Respect:

We have observed such respectful behaviour from students, staff and parents as we open our school. Thank you. These behaviours are greatly appreciated as they benefit everyone. However, just a reminder about this for the very rare occasion when someone has not shown respect:

This Respectful Behaviours policy outlines the shared roles of parents, carers and school staff in creating a positive environment for learning. There are also other policies that set out clear standards of behaviours that are specific to school staff and students.

When parents/carers and school staff work together as one team, our students do better. Victorian Government schools want to work with parents and carers to achieve this.

The expected standards of behaviours apply to different school settings. This includes at pick up and drop off at the school, school events, camps, excursions, outdoor activities, and other places related to schools.

Parents/carers can create a positive environment for learning and work by:

  • modelling positive behaviour to their child/children and to the school community
  • communicating politely and respectfully with all members of the school community
  • working with the school to achieve the best outcomes for their child/children
  • communicating constructively with the school
  • making use of the expected processes and protocols when raising concerns
  • following the school's processes for communication with staff and making complaints
  • treating all school staff, students, and other members of the school community with respect.

By treating everyone with respect, parents/carers and schools can make sure students feel supported and cared for.
