It’s November already, time for our Year 7 Camp and then two weeks after this time for our end of year celebration. Our Presentation Afternoon will be held on Thursday 4 December, celebrating our first group of students completing a year in the school. I feel privileged to work with such an amazing group of young people. We have Head Start in the following week, with Year 7 students moving into the STEM building and starting four days of their Year 8 classes.
It was a pleasure to meet Grade 6 students and their parents/carers at our Information Evening on Thursday 6 November. We are looking forward to Orientation Day on Tuesday 9 December to welcome our second group of students into the school! It is very exciting to be doubling in size in student and staff numbers in 2026.
We are nearly fully staffed, with two teaching positions still to be confirmed. Work on the timetable has begun and I expect this to be ready for 8 December when students move into new Year 8 classes.
We had a very productive Professional Practice Day on Monday 3rd November with teachers using this dedicated time to plan Year 8 Curriculum and Assessments for next year. They were able to work in their teams which is so important for collaboration. It has been a big year implementing Year 7 and I am so proud of our staff for the hard work and dedication that they show to all of their work. We also very appropriately celebrated World Teachers’ Day with a morning tea.
Thank you to the staff who will be attending our first camp to make this a great success. This is something that staff find rewarding but it is tiring and although time is provided they do give up their evenings. Ms Entwistle, Ms Khera and Ms Devenyns have worked very hard on planning and preparing. Their work and the work of those staff attending is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

We had a wonderful start to the term celebrating Diwali with our Junior School students. Students took great pride in wearing their cultural dress and participating in activities such as henna art, artwork and music which really added to the beautiful ambiance of the day. Although the inclement weather meant we were unable to complete our planned outdoor activities, this did not dampen the spirit or enthusiasm of Diwali. The joy, colour and cultural pride was still very much alive throughout the day.
On the 31st of October, Ms Devenyns, Shannon and Shania hosted a series of fun creative sessions, including jewelling the face, temporary tattoos, face painting, nails and a range of colouring activities. It was fantastic to see students collaborate, get involved and demonstrate their artistic flair.
If your child is attending camp, please ensure you have read all information posted on Compass and that all medical and dietary forms have been completed and submitted. If your child is not attending camp, they are expected to attend school as usual. An alternative program will be running on-site and attendance will be counted.
We would also like to kindly remind families that if your child’s laptop has not been purchased through LWT, we strongly recommend arranging insurance for the device. The school is not liable for any accidental damage to student devices. Please be aware that the school does not carry insurance to cover accidental damage to students’ laptops, and parents/carers are encouraged to obtain their own insurance for peace of mind.
Lastly, please note that in the week commencing Monday 8th December, our Year 7 students will begin their formal transition into Year 8 known as “Headstart”. During this week, students will follow the Year 8 curriculum. Attendance during Headstart is compulsory for all students, as this ensures a smooth and supported transition into 2026.
Lots happening in Health & PE This Term!
Self Defence incursion:
Self Defence Australia visited Wulerrp to teach students the basics of Jiu Jitsu. They learnt five different moves that focused on self-control and self-defence, while also taking part in a fun and energetic warm-up. Working in pairs, students had the chance to practise as both the aggressor and the technician, developing confidence and respect for others. Everyone enjoyed learning something new and gaining valuable life skills in the process.
Term 4 PE:
Our SEPEP Handball Program (Sport Education in Physical Education Program) has also kicked off! This program mirrors a real-life sporting competition. Classes have been mixed into five teams and, after a pre-season training period learning the rules and skills of handball, we’re now well into the start of the season. Duty teams take on roles such as scorer, statistician, captain, and umpire, giving students a taste of the many responsibilities that make a sporting event run smoothly. It’s been wonderful to see their teamwork, cooperation, and enthusiasm shine through!
Regional Cricket Update:
Congratulations to our boys and girls cricket teams for proudly representing our school at the regional level! The boys team put in a great effort in their T20 matchup but unfortunately went down in a close contest. Our girls team will continue their campaign this Friday at Aspendale Gardens. We wish them the best of luck!
It’s shaping up to be a fantastic Term 4 at Wulerrp!
